One sofa, a Craigslist score, a dorm room or a studio — small moves with the same professional care, from $200 total.
| Job | Typical total |
|---|---|
| Single item, same area | $200 (2-hr minimum) |
| Single item, across town | $230–$300 |
| Marketplace pickup & delivery | $200–$280 |
| Studio apartment | $200–$300 |
| Within-building / unit swap | $200–$260 |
The 2-hour small-move minimum (vs our standard 3) applies to jobs under 15 items — small moves shouldn't pay full-move minimums.
“Small” is a volume, not a feeling. A 15-foot truck holds roughly 700 to 800 cubic feet. Here is where the usual jobs land against that:
| What you have | Roughly | Share of a 15′ truck | Time on site |
|---|---|---|---|
| One sofa, bed or appliance | 30–70 cu ft | under 10% | 1–2 hrs |
| Marketplace pickup, 2–4 pieces | 60–150 cu ft | about 15% | 1.5–2.5 hrs |
| Dorm or furnished-room move | 150–250 cu ft | about 30% | 2–3 hrs |
| Studio apartment | 250–400 cu ft | about half | 2.5–3.5 hrs |
| One-bedroom apartment | 400–600 cu ft | most of it | 3–4.5 hrs |
Anything in the first four rows is a small load, and it is the work we do most. Below about fifteen items the job runs on a two-hour minimum instead of the three-hour minimum a full household move carries — small jobs should not pay full-move minimums, which is the whole reason the shorter minimum exists.
Two things make a small move take longer than the table says, and neither is the furniture: a walk-up above the second floor, and a building that requires an elevator reservation or a certificate of insurance. Tell us about either when you book and the time estimate stays honest.
Because the alternative is renting a truck for $80+, recruiting a friend, and discovering the sofa doesn't pivot through the stairwell the easy way. Our two-mover crew wraps it, solves the stairwell, carries it insured and places it where you want — usually inside two hours, door to door.

Solo option: for the smallest jobs, 1 mover + truck is available from $68/hour — ideal when you can lend a hand or the item is light.
$200 — a 2-hour small-move minimum with 2 movers and a truck, instead of our standard 3-hour minimum.
Yes — Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist pickups are daily work: we coordinate with the seller, inspect, wrap and deliver.
Yes — washers, dryers, fridges (emptied and defrosted) with appliance dollies; basic disconnect/reconnect of water lines is included where shutoffs are accessible.
Usually within 1–3 days — small moves slot between larger jobs; same-day is often possible if you call before 1 PM.
Yes — identical cargo and liability coverage, identical wrapping standards.
Small loads are the core of this service. We are small movers by design — a two-person crew and a truck sized for jobs that a full moving company treats as an inconvenience. Anything from a single mattress up to a one-bedroom apartment is normal work.
Often, once the real cost is counted. A rental truck runs about $80 before mileage and fuel, then there is the deposit, the fuel top-up, pads and straps if you do not own them, and the return trip. A single-item move with two movers starts at $200 all in, and nothing gets carried by someone who is not insured for it.
Under about fifteen items, or roughly a third of a 15-foot truck. Single items, marketplace pickups, dorm and studio moves, unit swaps inside one building, and runs to or from a storage unit are all small jobs at the two-hour minimum.
