How LA moving pricing works

Local moves in Los Angeles are billed by the hour based on crew size — $99/hour for two movers and a truck, $139 for three, $179 for four — with a three-hour minimum. That rate already includes the truck, fuel, blankets, shrink wrap, tape, basic assembly and stairs, so there are no fuel surcharges or "heavy item" fees added at the door. On top of the hourly labor, California's CPUC rules add "double drive time" — the crew bills double the driving time between your old and new address — a fixed, predictable amount for the distance. The single biggest factor you control is being fully packed and ready before the crew arrives; a half-packed home can add hours. Long-distance and interstate moves are priced differently, by weight and distance, with a binding written quote. The guides below break each scenario down by home size and show you exactly where your money goes.
