Culver City used to be known mainly as a film studio hub (Sony Pictures, Amazon Studios, Apple TV+). Now it's one of the most sought-after places to live in LA — a small city with its own government, a booming tech and entertainment sector, and one of the most walkable downtowns in the region.
Culver City sits between Santa Monica to the west, Baldwin Hills to the east, Inglewood to the south, and Mar Vista/Palms to the north. Roughly 10 miles from DTLA and 5 miles from Santa Monica Pier. The Metro C (Expo) Line runs through the city, making car-optional commutes to Santa Monica and DTLA possible.
Culver City is expensive. Amazon, Apple, HBO, TikTok, and Snapchat offices here drive demand. Priced similarly to Santa Monica but better value on space.
Culver City has its own school district (CCUSD) separate from LA Unified — a major benefit. Farragut Elementary, El Rincon, and La Ballona are the elementary schools. Culver City Middle and High Schools have strong reputations and significantly better outcomes than many LAUSD schools.
Streets are generally accessible for moving trucks. Downtown Culver City can have parking restrictions on commercial streets — check with your movers about permit requirements for truck staging. The Hayden Tract has live-work lofts popular with creatives that can have non-standard layouts affecting move complexity.
